What is the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF)?
The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) is a UK Government grant scheme designed to help farmers, horticulturalists, and land-based professionals invest in modern equipment to boost productivity, animal health, and environmental sustainability.
As part of the broader Rural Payments and Grants programme, FETF helps you offset the cost of eligible equipment with a fixed-value grant. If you’re approved, you can get a grant towards the cost of eligible equipment – no repayment needed.
In 2025, the scheme includes over £30 million in available funding.
What does it cover?
Funding is available for a wide range of items – from precision farming tech to livestock handling equipment. Who can apply for FETF funding?
You may be eligible if you’re:
- A farmer or horticulturalist in England
- Forestry owner
- Contractor carrying out services to farmers, horticulturalists or forestry owners
You must be registered with the RPA and your business must fall within specific farming sectors such as livestock, dairy, or horticulture. If you’re unsure, the RPA guidance offers clear examples.
How much funding can I claim?
For each item on the approved list, the government sets a fixed grant value. If successful, you’ll be awarded this amount (not a percentage of your quote). For example, vaccine refrigerator with external monitor is listed with a standard item reference (known as FETF279POU in the latest guidance). The funding covers up to £280 of the standard cost.
You can apply for each of the three FETF 2025 themes: Productivity, Slurry and Animal Health and Welfare (AHW).
You can only submit one application for each theme. Each application must be for between £1,000 and £25,000.
