What do I need from the supplier to apply?

You need three things to apply:

  1. Confirmation of stock from the supplier
  2. The serial number of the item you’re apply for
  3. A quote for the eligible items you wish to apply for

It’s essential that you do not purchase the items before you move forward. Instead, we’d highly recommend requesting a quote with “farming fund” as the reference.

How much funding could I receive?

According to FETF guidance on the government website, the rural payments agency (RPA) will pay you 40-50% towards either:

  • the average cost of an item – if it’s the same or more than the average expected cost (according to Defra guidelines)
  • the actual cost of an item – if it’s less than the average expected cost

If your application is successful, you’ll receive a minimum of £1,000 and a maximum of £25,000 towards animal health and welfare items.

How does government funding apply to medical fridges?

According to item FETF279 the average expected cost of a medical fridge is £599.

That means, that for every medical fridge you apply for, you could receive up to £279.
